Local Outreach
ALL GOD’S CHILDREN NEED SHOES
The Environmental club at Shawnee Mission East High School collected gently used shoes of any size, adult and children’s (no high heels) to donate to Soles4Souls, a global non-profit organization that distributes new and used shoes to natural disaster victims.
As a local Outreach project, Cherokee Christian Church joined in this effort to help the students of our neighborhood school, by cleaning their closets and bringing their shoes to church. The shoe Collection box was in the front entrance hall of the church. Our goal was to have enough shoes to fill the back of Bob Shankel’s (a Cherokee church member) pick-up truck. Flyers were distributed
to neighborhoods around the church.
14 yellow trash bags filled with 252 pairs of shoes were donated last spring.
Cherokee Christian Church is REACHING OUT.
KIDS CARDS
Cherokee Elementary boys and girls created the art for Mothers Day and all occasion cards, raising over $600 for Outreach.
